Waikowhai Walkway and Mahurangi Park

Some days we just take out the Auckland map, look for a green space/shoreline that we haven't explored and say "Let's go!"

We had a wonderful walk along the Waikowhai Walkway that had meandering paths up and down from residential neighborhoods through the bush to small bays.  Always beautiful!

Another day we traveled about an hour north of Auckland to Mahurangi Park.  The park and beach are very popular with summer visitors.  See how "crowded" it is?  New Zealand has countless bays, beaches and shorelines--plenty to go around.  Too bad the water is too cold for us wimps, but obviously, not for the Kiwis.  The water temperature is about 20 degrees.  The Mediterranean in Haifa is about 25 in the summer.  Ahhhhhh.......
