We're Here in Dublin!

Miles and I arrived 1 Sept. to glorious weather.  I know, I know...it rains all the time and that's why Ireland is so green.  But there is sun, too!

At a park not far from our flat

We're staying in Ballsbridge, a neighborhood of Dublin.  Our cozy 1-bedroom flat is a 45-minute walk to downtown.  We got a bus pass that will help!

Today was RAINY but that didn't stop us.

We walked 30 minutes to the University College of Dublin to see where Miles will be giving seminars and collaberating with colleagues.  Every sign in Dublin has Gaelic as well as English.

The campus is modern and sprawling with lots of green areas and a couple of lakes.

We were intrigued by these "covered" walkways around campus.  I guess it's a way to avoid the rain.

Later today we walked around Herbert Park which is right behind our flat.  Lots of green fields, tree-lined paths, a playground and lawn bowling.

 Lawn bowling anyone?

Just in case you were wondering about dog droppings in the park, here's a sign telling you what to do:  Bin the Poo.

And yes, the eyes are dog poo circles.

  1. Rain Rain - don't go away. It's my favorite. And all that green and trees and lakes. And you're wearing a jacket which means (I hope) there's a chill in the air.
And me, I'm off to Zumba sans Laurie. But off to Oregon on Thursday.
    Cheers!

  2. LOVE IT, bin the poo and all. All that rain does have its benefits. Glad it doesn't stop you from pursuing your exercise. Love that sculpture on campus.
